Bands in the Sands: from 23rd June – 9th August
We’re sorry to tell you this: but you’ve missed a chance to see Tom Jones at the first Bands in the Sands event this year, which took place right near our office base in Perranporth in June. What a superstar. However, the good news is there is a whole host of other top notch artists and bands taking to the stage on Perranporth Beach over the summer.
Time your escape to Cornwall just so, and you could see Seasick Steve, The Stranglers, Feeder or Toots & Maytals. After the band leaves the stage, you can keep the party going by hitting the Watering Hole, the infamous Perrranporth Pub on the Beach, for an afterparty running until 2am. Phew. Save some energy and polish your dancing shoes ready!

Boardmasters: 9th – 13th August
The biggest music festival in Cornwall is back; with a heritage reaching back to 1981 it’s now a commercial, suitable for all, kind of affair with headliners including Jamiroquai and Two Door Cinema Club. Boardmasters is also located in a stunning Cornish coastal location – this time overlooking Watergate Bay. And when we say overlooking we mean overlooking – the views from certain parts of the main arena and surrounding stages are out of this world.
Often confusing for the first time visitor is the fact that Boardmasters takes place in two locations in opposite parts of Newquay: part of its activities, not surprisingly centred on surfing, are based on Fistral Beach, the world renowned surfing beach. There’s also plenty music-wise in both locations to keep you entertained. At the main festival site overlooking Watergate Bay there are massive fairground rides, an impressive selection of trend led stalls, foodie stalls and so many arenas and spots we find ourselves wandering around endlessly with a happy look on our face.

Newquay Fish Festival: 8th – 10th September
Now in its 14th year this festival calls Newquay Harbour home and offers exhibitors, chefs, entertainment and a bursting programme of activities. Celebrating the fishing industry, the amazing food scene here in Cornwall, and wider British traditions, it's one not to missed by foodies.
If you’ve never explored Newquay Harbour during an event you should: it’s a beautiful spot and there are great views along the gorgeous Newquay coastline. Experiencing the historic location with an historic industry at its heart couldn’t be more celebratory of everything we do well in Cornwall. It’s hard not to join in with the Cornish brass bands to blow our own trumpets but we do know how to put on a good show! With the community at the heart of this event, and an economic mission of continuing to regenerate Newquay Harbour, we think this festival ticks all the boxes: have fun, eat well, do good and come away thinking 'I’ve been somewhere new and done something different today!'
Entry is free and you’ll find a full programme of activities announced on the website in the weeks proceeding the Fish Festival: www.newquayfishfestival.co.uk
