Dog friendly attractions in and around Perranporth

Cornwall’s reputation as a dog friendly holiday destination is well-deserved for good reason, it is a haven for canine companions and their owners. There is the vast coastline, ample countryside, and miles of dog friendly beaches that offer lots of opportunities for scenic walkies, whilst most pubs and restaurants offer dogs a warm welcome. Here in Perranporth, the rolling sand dunes and three miles of beach are dog-friendly, whilst you can pick up a canine ice cream from Pavillion, pop into Perran Pooch Wear for a bit of doggy retail therapy, and enjoy lunch on the sand at The Watering Hole.

Healey’s Cyder Farm

A quintessential Cornish day out! A picturesque orchard is at the heart of Healey’s Cyder Farm, located just outside of Perranporth where you’ll find an array of friendly animals in the farmyard, there’s the visitor’s farm shop and restaurant too; where you can tuck into a tasty Cornish cream tea and sample a freshly-brewed cyder or two!

Dogs are welcomed on leads, however they are not permitted in the production halls or jam kitchen for hygiene reasons, so cannot join the guided tours.

Cornish Lavender Farm

Take your four-legged friend for a wander through the picturesque Cornish Lavender fields in Perranporth. Away from the hustle and bustle of the beachfront and high street, with plenty of space for your pooch to explore and a tea room serving mouthwatering lavender scones, it is a treat for your senses.

Lappa Valley Steam Railway

On the outskirts of Newquay, just a short ten-minute drive from Perranporth in the Cornish countryside is Lappa Valley Steam Railway. A dog-friendly destination, where you’ll find plenty to see and do. Take a nostalgic train ride (dogs welcome on board too) around the lush rural surroundings, across a viaduct, and through tunnels as the steam train toots along. Climb aboard at the charming vintage station, boating lake, playgrounds, and nature trails. It’s a delightful destination where the joy of steam travel meets the natural beauty of Cornwall.

Dogs on leads are welcome. There is an entry charge of £1 per dog and they are welcome on the Steam Railway, boats, Newlyn Downs Branch Line, and natural trails.

Heartlands

A cultural haven, Heartlands showcases Cornwall’s rich mining heritage with the Red River Engine House and a plethora of fun-filled things to do. Explore the fascinating stories and exhibitions in the museum, wander through the sprawling gardens, and discover the adventure playground and indoor soft play! With free entry and an on-site café, Heartlands is sure to entertain everyone, including the dog!

Dogs are welcome, except for in the children’s adventure playground and soft play.

Tehidy Country Park

Perfect for a ramble with your pooch, Tehidy Country Park is Cornwall’s largest woodland with a variety of walks; from a casual stroll to a longer walk towards the coast! Find yourself immersed under a canopy of leafy trees and foliage, walking alongside babbling streams and majestic lakes, listening to the sound of sweet bird song, whilst your dog explores the woody terrain. You may meet the locals on your travels, as Tehidy is home to some very friendly squirrels.

Pack a picnic or stop by the Tehidy Woods Café for a hearty breakfast before you set off, make a pitstop for coffee and cake or relax with a lazy lunch surrounded by calming woodlands.
