New Year celebrations in Cornwall

All the pubs and bars in Perranporth will be celebrating seeing in 2020, here are the events that just a few are putting on:

The Watering Hole, Perranporth

This year The Watering Hole’s annual New Year’s Eve party has the theme of ‘Apres Ski’. Kicking off with a Champagne reception at 7.30 p.m., an apres ski feast of bratwursts and crepes will follow, accompanied by covers from the lively Oompah Brass Band and then Eton Messy will take party-goers from the bells to 4 a.m. Tickets are £20.

The Seiners, Perranporth

In traditional Cornish style, The Seiners always put on a fantastic fancy dress New Year’s Eve party, with the theme this year being ‘The year you were born’. Choose anything from your year of birth, from TV programmes, hits on the big screen, sporting events, historical facts, famous events, or simply the fashion from that era.  From 8pm – late. Free entry.

The Perranporth Inn

‘Ab Fab meets Only Fools and Horses’ at The Perranporth Inn this 31st December. Make of that what you will: get your glad rags or flat caps on and dance the night away to DJ Lady C, until 2 a.m. Free entry.

St Agnes

A lively place to visit on New Year’s Eve, St Agnes will have a whole host of events going on, with one of the biggest parties at The Driftwood Spars, down by Trevaunance Cove. This year they’re hosting a 70’s disco from 9 p.m.  to late, so don your widest flares and dance into the next decade to the Proper Job Disco.

The mecca of fancy dress New Year’s parties, Newquay’s streets will be filled with hundreds of revellers on the 31st December.

Sailors

For a big party atmosphere, Sailors nightclub will open their doors from 10.30 p.m. until 4 a.m. for dancing ‘til dawn to DJ Willby. Free entry to the pub, £10 nightclub entry on the door.

Fistral Beach Hotel

For an altogether different sort of evening, Fistral Beach Hotel will be celebrating New Year’s Eve with delicious festive dishes and sharing platters in the Dune Restaurant followed by a party in the Bay Bar to live music and DJing to welcome in 2020. Tickets from £70 – £95.

Fireworks over Newquay Harbour

See in 2020 with a bang with a fantastic fireworks display over Newquay Harbour, organised by Newquay Town Council. Make your way to a vantage point around the town at midnight to see the sky light up over the bay and hear Auld Lang Syne ring out around the streets.

Sea Dip

If the night before has left you feeling a little jaded, a New Year’s Dip in the sea could be just the ticket to chase the hangover away! Head down to Newquay Harbour for 2 p.m. on 1st January for a dip in the sea in aid of Clic cancer charity.

Beach Walk

If a dip in the sea seems like taking things a little too far, a breezy walk on the beach in the fresh air could blow away the cobwebs. With three miles of golden sand, Perranporth beach is the perfect place for a wintry walk. Wrap up warm, bring your pooch for a paddle, and then stop off at one of the nearby pubs or cafes for a warming cuppa or perhaps a hair of the dog!
