Your guide to school holidays in 2020

Here’s our guide to the main school holidays so you can start planning ahead and booking those beachside breaks.

February half term: 15 – 23 February 2020

It’s not far away at all, but even by February half term the days are significantly longer, the temperature often starting to rise a little, and the hedgerows beginning to bud. Enjoy invigorating coastal walks, hot chocolates while watching the winter waves, and – if you’re brave enough – pull on a wetsuit and make the most of the quieter sea at this time of year.

Easter holidays: 28 March – 26 April 2020

This year the Easter school holidays differ throughout the UK, with Easter weekend falling in the middle of the April; Friday 10th– Monday 13th April.

By April the weather is definitely milder, spring flowers cover the cliff paths, and Cornwall’s many beautiful gardens are coming to life. Huge magnolias, vibrant camellias, swathes of bluebells, and bright foxgloves are just some of the gorgeous flowers that begin to bloom in Cornwall’s temperate climate.

May half term: 23 – 31 May 2020

With miles of beach and countryside to explore, the glorious early summer days of May are easy to fill with outdoor adventures, picnics and sea swimming. Many of Cornwall’s beaches (and our self-catering properties) are dog friendly, so you can bring the whole family including your four-legged friends, for a relaxing coastal break and make memories to last a lifetime.

Summer holidays: 24 July – 2 September 2020

If you’re already dreaming of summer bodyboarding followed by basking on the beach in the sunshine, sandy toes, salty skin, Cornish ice creams, and a glass of something cold while watching the sun sink into the sea, book your summer break today and make the dream a reality! Summer 2020 is already booking up fast, so give us a call to reserve your preferred property or favoured dates.

October half term: 24 October – 1 November 2020

A wonderful time of the year for a family break, the October half term can often deliver autumnal sunshine, bright crisp days, blue skies and warm water. The beaches are quieter and the woodlands a riot of colour as the leaves change. Make the most of a restful getaway before the busyness of the Christmas term kicks in!

Christmas and New Year: 19 December 2020 – 3 January 2021

If you fancy Christmas by the coast next year why not plan ahead for it now? Wake on Christmas morning to the sound of the waves, take a post-Christmas Day lunch stroll along the beach, and join in with the Boxing Day sea dip at Perranporth (no wetsuits allowed!).

We’re also taking bookings for 2021, so if you have a Cornwall self-catering holiday in mind already, give us a call, or search availability online, and reserve your chosen dates. See you on the beach!
