Dog Friendly Beaches in Cornwall

Chapel Porth, near St Agnes
Dog friendly beach from 1st October to Easter. No dogs permitted from Easter Sunday to 30th September. St Agnes Head and the beacon (on the coast path) are dog friendly all year round.
Enjoy a lovely walk over the cliff to the remains of Wheal Coates engine mine and reward yourself with an infamous Hedgehog ice cream from Chapel Porth’s beach café.

Crantock, Newquay
Dog friendly beach all year round, Crantock is another great example of the north coast’s vast sandy beaches and towering dunes.
At low tide explore Crantock and the Gannel Estuary where you and your pooch can walk miles of sandy estuary. Just remember to check the tide times before setting off!

Fistral Beach, Newquay
Dog friendly beach all year round, Fistral is a long sandy beach, great for shell seeking! Beachside restaurants The Stable, Rick Steins Fish & Chips and Fistral Beach Bar are all dog friendly.

Great Western Beach, Newquay
Dog friendly beach all year round, with caves, rockpools, and great surf. Home to the Slope, a dog friendly beach bar and a great sundowner spot for catching the sunset with a drink or two.

Holywell Bay, Newquay
Dog friendly beach all year round, Holywell boasts a wide beach with golden sand, huge grass-tufted sand dunes, and the iconic Gull Rock out to sea. Perfect for dog walkers, picnickers, families, and found along the South West Coast Path route.

 

Lusty Glaze, Newquay
Dog friendly beach from 1st October to 30th May. No dogs permitted from 31st May to 30th September. A sheltered cove accessed down a very steep flight of steps, the beach bar and restaurant welcome well behaved dogs all year round.

Perranporth
Dog friendly beach all year round, however dogs must be kept on a short lead on the main beach from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. throughout July and August. The Watering Hole, Seiners Arms, and the garden at The Waterfront are all dog friendly beachside pubs with fantastic views.

Porth Beach, Newquay
Dog friendly beach from 1st October to 30th April. No dogs permitted from 1st May to 30th September. Take your dog for a walk along the beach and around Porth Island, and then stop by Roo’s Beach, a clothing and homewares boutique with a dog-friendly coffee shop.

Portreath
Dog friendly beach from 1st October to Easter and before 7 a.m. and after 7 p.m. between Easter and 30th September. Portreath beach is large and sandy, popular with families and surfers, with a café and restaurant on the beachfront and shops and a pub overlooking the harbour.

Porthtowan
Dog friendly beach from 1st October to Easter and before 8 a.m. and after 7 p.m. between Easter and 30th September. A blue flag award winning beach, Porthtowan boasts soft sand, great surf, and a children’s park at the top of the beach. The dog friendly Blue Bar is a great pit stop for food and drink.

Tolcarne Beach, Newquay
Dog friendly beach from 1st October to 30th April. No dogs permitted from 1st May to 30th September. A crescent shaped bay, Tolcarne is popular with families and great for body boarding. A beach shop sells all the essentials for a day at seaside, as well as hiring beach huts, loungers, wetsuits and boards.

Towan Beach, Newquay
Dog friendly beach all year round, at low tide the beaches at both Great Western and Tolcarne can be reached along the sand. Towan beach is in the heart of Newquay, with many dog friendly bars and cafes to choose from in the town.

 

Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes 
Dogs on leads allowed on this family favourite pebbly beach all year round, with clear water, a surf break, and rock pools perfect for little explorers. Many of the local bars, cafes and pubs are dog friendly, including Schooners beachfront restaurant bar and The Driftwood Spars, a traditional Cornish pub and seafood restaurant.

Watergate Bay, Newquay
Dog friendly beach all year round, Watergate Bay is a two-mile beach in a valley between Newquay and Padstow. A hub for water sports, and with several dog friendly beachside restaurants and bars.
