Family Days Out this February Half Term

February half term is almost upon us, and as usual Cornwall has masses of activities and things going on to entertain the whole family, regardless of what the weather throws at us! Here are a few of our favourites…

Titanic Stories, National Maritime Museum

Until 5 January 2020

The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth continues its major exhibition Titanic Stories. Re-telling individual stories of many of the passengers who were on board, and presenting rare and never-before-seen objects, the exhibition takes a closer look at one of the most well-known historic events of the 20th century.

 

16 – 24 February 2019

The Eden Project is offering a Passport to the World this February half term for the adventure of a lifetime, visiting five continents in one day! Collect stamps as you experience activities from the four corners of the globe including an Arctic story, flamenco dancing, didgeridoo performances, blowpipe training and a carnival through the rainforest!

The Eden Project’s ice-skating rink is also still open throughout half term until the 24 February, so get your skates on to make the most of this glittering winter wonderland!

Dairyland Farm World

16 – 24 February 2019

During the half term holiday Dairyland Farm World is fully open to the public including pony rides, the petting zoo, hayrides, and of course indoor fun in the giant indoor Bull Pen play area.

For those little ones who love trains, a trip to Lappa Valley Steam Railway will make their half term complete! And parents will be pleased to learn that entry is discounted to only £7.50 per person throughout the week.

Paradise Park

16 – 24 February 2019

Take the opportunity to dress up as pirates and fairies for a themed treasure hunt at Paradise Park this half term. Complete the quiz to claim a sweet treat, as well as enjoying all the usual delights of Paradise Park: over 130 species and more than 1000 birds!

19 – 21 February 2019

Become a time traveller at Flambards’ undercover attractions with a visit to the fascinating Britain in the Blitz exhibition and a wander around the streets and alleyways of the Victorian Village. This life-sized village has over 50 authentically recreated scenes including a pharmacy showcasing its original contents from 1909!

Truro Cathedral

18 – 20 February 2019 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day

Truro Cathedral are putting on a host of children’s activities during half term including making kite decorations, dragon finger puppets and peg animals, and a spotter trail within the cathedral. 20 – 23 February 2019

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is coming to Redruth Regal cinema this half term, showing a brand new collection of inspirational films starring intrepid explorers on incredible expeditions. Visit Merlin Cinemas for more information.

World Pasty Championships

If that wasn’t enough excitement coming up, the week after half term is Cornish Pasty Week, culminating in the eighth annual World Pasty Championships at the Eden Project on 2nd March where pasty makers from across the world are invited to enter the competition to win a coveted best pasty in category award!

Then the following day the 3rd March, St Piran - the patron saint of Cornwall - is celebrated in Perranporth with the annual St Piran’s Day Parade, a re-enactment of his story told in a theatrical performance across Perranporth’s sand dunes.
