Dog walks in and around Perranporth

Dogs love Cornwall as much as we do, with miles of magnificent walkies for your pooch to enjoy. Get tails wagging along stunning coastal paths, sandy shorelines and scenic country rambles. Zoe of Salty Sea Dogs (doggy day care and boarding in Perranporth) shares her top doggy hotspots.

Deadmans Pool, Perranporth Beach
Everyone loves the open sand, but walk a little longer across the beach and you’ll find the curious crystal blue water of Dead Man’s Pool. Fed with fresh water filtered through the rocks above, the pool is deep, protected by its rocky rooftop from the breeze.

Jericho Valley, Cross Combe
Meander along the shady, fern-lined path and follow the stream down through the valley to Blue Hills. Beautiful heathers can be seen in summer nestled between the old granite mining stacks and engine house which sit above the small, pebbled beach below.

St Piran’s Oratory and The Lost Church, Penhale Sands
Open the gate and hike across miles of open common land to the large granite cross which points towards the Lost Church, dating back a thousand years. In winter, the site is often flooded with fresh water pools and offers the perfect dip for any water loving woofer.

Ellenglaze Common, Mount
A large and relatively enclosed common full of wild flowers and water iris’s in summer, the path leads around the meadow to numerous natural ponds or venture through the woods onto the footpath which leads along the stream and down to Holywell Bay.

Leycroft Footpath to Miners Arms
Bound along the footpath covered with foxgloves and blackberries to the open pastures. The path leads to the Village pub, serving local ales, great food and dog treats on the bar.

Top Dog Friendly Spots
You’re spoilt for choice for dog friendly establishments in the local area. Watch the sun setting on the beach at the Watering Hole or stop for a treat of Fillet Steak Doggy Ice Cream at Pavilion Ice situated on Beach Road.
