What’s on in Cornwall this February Half Term

Bracing Beach Walks

Pull on your wellies or walking boots, wrap up warm, and enjoy an invigorating family walk along one of Cornwall’s plentiful and beautiful beaches. The huge expanses of empty sand invite running and racing; get blown along by the wind, feel revitalised by the sea air, and then hunker down in a beachside café to warm chilly fingers around mugs of hot chocolate or steaming pasties fresh from the oven.

Storm Watch

If the weather’s really raging, choose a seafront pub (preferably with a roaring fire), from which to sit and watch as the Atlantic waves pound the shore and experience the elements while staying warm and dry! Take along a pack of cards and enjoy some family time over a drink or afternoon tea.

Sightseeing by Bike

Feeling energetic? There are many great cycle trails in Cornwall, suitable for most abilities. Try out the trails in beautiful Cardinham Woods, cycle coast to coast along The Mineral Tramway Trail from Portreath to Devoran or pedal the ever popular Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow.

Art at Eden

This half term visit The Eden Project to get hands-on and work with an artist to create a giant multi-coloured art installation. Take part in art activities and creative crafts and follow the Living Colour Trail to discover some of the brightest and boldest shades found in nature.

Paradise Park Super Quiz

Take part in the Superhero Super Quiz at Paradise Park this February at the award winning wildlife sanctuary. Dress as your favourite superhero and explore the park to discover the answers to such questions as ‘who flies underwater’ and ‘which bird has the strongest beak’? Children can also help to feed the penguins, watch free flying macaws, and have fun in the Jungle Barn Play Centre.

Science of the Sea

From Monday 17 – Friday 21 February, the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth is hosting a live, expert-led science show with entertaining demonstrations and audience interaction. From magical fog to exploding water and curious chemistry, discover surprising and exciting facts about the humble water molecule.

Signs of Spring

Celebrate the start of spring at The National Trust with their splendid gardens at Glendurgan. As the gardens slowly emerge from their winter sleep, see what signs of spring you can spot as you wander the grounds, and take part in a free seed planting activity on the way out, to take home with you.
